I accept just received my ASUS GTX670.
I currently take a GT240 and have just (literally simply) installed the latest nVidia Drivers: 306.97

I already know how to put information technology into the case, the motherboard you lot know... hardware stuff. Now the software.
Do i just simply boot as normal when ive plugged everything in or are there steps?

Because your new card uses the same driver as the one-time, just supplant the card and you lot should be practiced to go.

This is the correct method. It make work the other style, without uninstalling the drivers, but you desire to practice it right and avoid any potential conflicts or stray registry entries. It doesn't take long, but a clean installation of a new card is all-time.

It'due south not the same driver. It's just the aforementioned driver packet - but once you launch the installer, it detects which carte du jour you have and installs the correct driver. It might say it's same driver version, which it is, just it's actually different commuter for unlike cards.

I could be wrong, but when windows detects new hardware which the new graphics card is, so it will look for a suitable driver which is already there.

My take is to try it first.

My accept is to try it offset.

It literally takes about 3-5 minutes to uninstall and reinstall the drivers, just do it the right way.

You desire to uninstall everything Nvidia in the Control Panel Add together/Remove Programs list.
Restart your PC.
Install the latest drivers.

I similar to use Detonator R.I.P. after uninstalling drivers to completely remove all the trivial traces left behind. When only updating drivers, you don't usually need to uninstall and make clean everything out. But if yous are upgrading your Nvidia card or trying to exercise a completely clean driver install, this helps to remove registry entries, files, and folders.

May I suggest you commencement try merely installing your new graphics carte du jour.

If you lot should accept any issues, which I doubt, you can go through the redundant exercise if uninstalling your ole driver and replacing information technology with the same thing.

Yep, just right click on the driver and bank check the little box and it will remove the drivers. Then power down and install the graphics carte if you take not already. Null can really become incorrect, I've washed information technology so many times and never had a unmarried event.
